Maybe you have an injured player that you need to replace. Maybe one of your starters is slumping and you could use a temporary replacement in the lineup. Maybe you are looking to find that next player who comes from nowhere to be picked up off the fantasy waiver wires to become a top performer. Just maybe, Fantasy Sleepers is your secret weapon for a winning fantasy season!

This Week's Sleepers:

Kyle Orton (QB - Denver)
Who would have throught Josh McDaniels could turn Matt Cassel into a Pro Bowl type QB having never started a game since high school? You may be skeptical of the young head coach's people skills having run off Jay Cutler, but he has replaced him with a Cassel-like QB to intelligently fit the challenging system. Orton is going to throw more than he ever did in Chicago, and hit a lot of high percentage passes geared to tack on yards after the catch for Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall. Denver's D also went largely unimproved (other than perhaps in scheme and coaching) so they may be behind a lot again this year and rely upon the pass to catch up. Even when ahead, McDaniels is going to be throwing it around.

If you lean heavy on RBs early in the draft and looking for a value QB later, Orton is a great value pick who should go much later than most starting QBs but may out-produce many of them and see a significant rise in his production in Denver's new system.

This Week's Fantasy League Filler:

Are you looking for a league to join? There are tons of fantasy league openings as the season approaches, but here's something a little different if you are looking to take your football to another level.

  • 53-man rosters
  • $127M salary cap
  • 7 round college draft every April
  • Franchise tags, practice squads, and cap hits

Acquire a real QB in Minnesota and take them all the way this year with AP and the great offensive and defensive line supporting casts. Give Larry Johnson a better offensive line than KC's now (and whose isn't) and you'll see a boost from his real performance updates as the season goes along in this fantasy/simulation hybrid league. It's much more like real football than a fantasy, as you are deciding on the 53-man roster deadline to either keep a promising rookie draft pick who probably won't go unclaimed to make your practice squad or a pricey veteran on the decline but would require a hefty cap hit to cut due to the large signing bonus you handed him last off-season. Check out an existing league, and sign up for a new one starting this year at FanGM.com.

Have a great fantasy sports season!
